We came to the conclusion that we wanted to still be sitting on a balcony of a gorgeous house and the best place to be doing that was in New Zealand.
The whole process of finding a job and emigrating started in September on our return from our summer holiday.
The web site of the NZ immigration service became used every night as I filled in the Expression of Interest online forms. It was straight forward and any queries were answered by consultants on the phone. We decided to apply for residency at the same time as a lot of paperwork was needed for emigrating and residency.
We attended an emigration show at Sandown in October and met Helen from Accent Health Recruitment as well as other emigration specialists and NZ immigration officials.
Helen arranged for us to see her and Prudence down in London a couple of weeks later.
We chatted about what we were looking for, both for me and for my husband and Helen and Prudence explained some procedures of immigration to us. I was filmed talking about my skills, qualifications, family and why we were looking to emigrate.
It was not a difficult thing to do!!
Suffice to say on our arrival in NZ we were looked after by Accent Health and by Helen's helpful and encouraging e-mails and telephone chats.
The transfer of our life to NZ has been relatively easy and with few hiccups. Our children are happy in their new schools and are embracing the NZ way of life, Daniel didn't wear shoes for the first few days!!
We can certainly say so far so good, after 8 weeks.
