Johnny Drayson - Junior Doctor from UKI first contacted ACCENT via email in February 2007. I was currently working as a junior doctor in the UK, and like many of my peers I wanted to take some time out to work and travel overseas and broaden my horizons. My dream rapidly became reality as Prudence worked her magic, and secured me a great job in Christchurch Emergency Department within a few days after a quick phone interview. The rest was pretty straightforward, with immigration and relocation issues being quickly and efficiently dealt with, and soon I was out there in August about to start my first day at work. It was pretty tough at first, especially being on your own, but things were really helped by everyone's friendliness and efficiency, and the nice personal touches such as the goodies and the free mobile phone (thanks guys). This just made you feel as if you were really wanted and appreciated, which was a wonderful experience after all the problems with junior doctors in the UK.
I am now back home in the UK, but I spent 6 wonderful months in Christchuch and was very sad to go. I will be returning to NZ again in a few months, possibly for good, but this time dragging my girlfriend along too. We will of course be sticking with ACCENT to find new jobs and help us settle in, because if it 'aint broke don't fix it', and I couldn't have asked for better help and support so far.'
