Ian Buchanan, Optometrist from United KingdomHi, my name is Ian. I am an optometrist from Manchester. I had been looking in to working in New Zealand for a while, and had contacted some other agencies about employment as an optometrist, but was met with very low levels of enthusiasm. I saw Prudence's details on a recruitment website, and fired off an email, but I was not really expecting a reply. Two hours later I got a call from Prudence saying she was setting off for the UK for a recruitment conference in London, and we arranged to meet up to discuss opportunities in New Zealand.
It took about three weeks for a job to be arranged for me. The job was secured on Prudence's recommendation, and when I spoke to my employer it was simply to arrange a start date. From time of the job offer Prudence helped me sort out details such as registration for income tax, getting references to support my application for a work visa, and getting a good deal on booking a flight. When I arrived in Christchurch, Prudence has researched some options for accommodation for me, and I was able to move in to a house within three days. I have only been here for about three weeks, but it has been pretty hassle free, and the work is going really well.
If you like sports, then New Zealand is the place to be; there are loads of running events to be involved in, surfing, kayaking, skiing, rugby, football, tennis, golf, squash. Being near the beach is fantastic, and the weather at the moment is great. If you are interested in a different pace of life, exploring a fantastic country, and having more professional freedom, then I would recommend sending Prudence an email and starting your adventure.
