Jeff Bannister, Manager/Duty Officer from United KingdomAfter a months holiday in April 2004 we (my partner and I) thought NZ was a good place to live. The more we thought of it the more it became the place we wanted to live. After a few dead ends as far as job enquiries, I came across Accent (Pru). She tried a few job opportunities for me and recommended I register with the NZ Reg. Board, a good piece of advice because they don't move very quick. Eventually after meeting Pru at the London NZ expo. a job surfaced in Christchurch, not my first choice but after being here for 2 months we quickly learned how good it is here, a good choice in the end.
The first definite indication I had was a phone call one Tuesday night from Pru to tell me about the job as Manager/Duty Officer. Friday night I had my interview, by phone, with my now employer. It lasted 30 minutes and the job was offered. This was the first week in November, and the flight was booked for 24th December! So things really started to move quickly.
Apart form a stressful visit to NZ House in London, everything went smoothly, I can recommend going to NZ House as soon as possible to avoid last minute hassle, work permit etc. I am writing this on my desk top which has now arrived with my furniture from UK. Things couldn't be better now we're both settling into new jobs and starting to explore the surrounding country, which is our next part of our long holiday.
