My name is Susan Fairlamb and I came from Cornwall in the UK to work in Christchurch Hospital in NZ as a registered nurse.
I first met the ACCENT staff at an expo and, as I was already registered as a nurse in NZ, they organized an interview for me with the hospital within 3 weeks of the first meeting!! I have been here 6 months now and after a long roller coaster ride we have all settled down. The best thing about being here is my 6 year old daughter Amy just loves it.
I originally came out on a work permit - and NZIS were great - I just took (HEAPS) of the required paper work into Haymarket in London and they processed it on the day - with a smile. Now I am out in NZ we applied for residency and got that through in a matter of weeks.
It took a while to settle down and it is pretty cold without central heating - but we are all very happy and pleased to be new kiwis! It also takes a while to get used to peoples accents!!
Like all of ACCENTs clients we were well looked after and had loads of help prior to and on arrival into NZ.
