Living in the Bay of Plenty
The Bay of Plenty is one of the fastest growing regions in New Zealand, although over 95% of the region is defined as rural. Although industries such as horticulture, forestry and tourism are well established, the region is also the third-most economically deprived in New Zealand. For tourists, the area offers many attractions, however, including:
- Tauranga - A vibrant city situated at the entrance to one of the largest natural harbours in New Zealand.
- Mount Maunganui - Beautiful beaches ideal for swimmers and surfers.
- Whakatane - Main base for taking trips to White Island, one of the world's few accessible live volcanoes.
