Taranaki Healthcare Employment

In Taranaki the regional District Health Board provides public health, medical, surgical, mental health, allied health and ambulance services to about 105,00 people. Taranaki has two hospitals (Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth and Hawera Hospital in Hawera) and health centres in Stratford, Opunake, Waitara, Mokau and Patea.

The DHB vision for Taranaki is that in ten years' time:

People will be smoking less
People will be eating more healthily
People will be more physically active
The impact of disease will be less
They will have a skilled workforce and the right infrastructure, with people working together.

The Taranaki region is on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island and over 100,000 people living there enjoy a mild climate (and abundant rainfall) in distinctive geographical regions, the volcanic ring plain, hill country and coastal terraces.
