Bay of Plenty Healthcare Employment

The Bay of Plenty region (BoP) is one of the warmest in New Zealand, with a subtropical, temperate climate with at least 2,000 hours of sunshine every year for most areas.

The Bay of Plenty District Health Board funds and provides health and disability services for about 200,000 people living in the Bay of Plenty district. This population lives on the east coast of the North Island, which covers the towns of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatane, Kawerau and Opotiki. The Bay of Plenty District Health Board employs over 2,700 staff.

The Bay of Plenty is one of the fastest growing regions in New Zealand, although over 95% of the region is defined as rural. Although industries such as horticulture, forestry and tourism are well established, the region is also the third-most economically deprived in New Zealand.
