South Canterbury Healthcare Employment

The South Canterbury (Aoraki) region is located on the eastern side of New Zealand' South Island. It is bordered by the Southern Alps mountain range to the west, the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Rangitata and Waitaki rivers to the north and south. The population is roughly 55,000, with over half living in rural areas and its main centre is Timaru.

Publicly funded healthcare and disability services are provided by the South Canterbury District Health Board, one of the smallest district health boards, employing about 850 staff and contractors.

The beautiful Rangitata Valley, in the centre of the Southern Alps was used as a location in the Lord of the Rings trilogy of films and it's easy to see why.
