Southlands health care is mainly (but not only) provided by the Te Whatu Ora -Southern (formerly Southern District Health Board).

Primary health care is the first point of contact with the medical sector for most of the region and provides services such as: ambulances, after hour surgeries, child health, dentists, disability services, hospices, men's health, mental health, and women's health services (gynaecology and maternity).
